Use Cases

Course Communication

Students aren’t raising their hand to speak up during class anymore

Problem: Most students feel hesitant to ask questions out loud or share their thoughts during class, resulting in a lack of engagement that can make class feel boring for everyone involved.

Solution: Nectir lowers the barrier to entry for participation by making it easy to engage in a discussion without interrupting the flow of the lecture. Instant chat is a modem of communication that students today are deeply familiar with, and are therefore much more willing to use organically over outdated tools like forums. Students are more likely to speak up in a virtual space that feels safe and accessible, where it is inherently less risky to contribute.

When we meet students where they are using accessible yet modern learning tools, we’re able to deliver them a more valuable learning experience that both gives them a sense of autonomy and provides a deeper connection to peers they normally wouldn’t have an opportunity to add to their network. Nectir creates a standardized safe space for every student to thrive within.

Students can’t connect easily outside of class

Problem: Students are unable to easily connect with their classmates outside of the classroom, which can lead to a lack of collaboration and missed socialization opportunities.

Solution: By providing a course-sanctioned backchannel, you enable your students to connect both in and out of class in a way that is accessible to everyone. Students no longer have to use their personal phone numbers or social media accounts to get in touch for group projects or to create study groups.

Students don’t check their emails often enough

Problem: Students miss important updates due to the overload of emails in their inbox and their lack of receptiveness to email-based communication.

Solution: By providing a central hub for course communication that students can access on any device, you can ensure that students have access to important information in real time. Nectir messages sent by the instructor will trigger both an email and mobile notification to the students. Disseminate announcements, reminders, and even attachments—all in one place.
